UCB, Inc. Facts
- In 1995, UCB, Inc. headquarters is established in Smyrna, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta.
- In 1996, Zyrtec® (cetirizine HCl), the leading European product for UCB, is commercially available in the U.S. in a co-promotion with Pfizer. It becomes the first blockbuster drug for UCB in the U.S.
- In 1999, a new drug application is submitted and approved for Keppra® (levetiracetam) tablets.
- By 2007, Keppra® (levetiracetam) has become the second blockbuster drug for UCB in the U.S. Also approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2007 Xyzal® (levocetirizine dihydrochloride).
- In 2008, the first UCB biologic, Cimzia® (certolizumab pegol), is commercially available. Also approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2008 are Keppra XRTM (levetiracetam) extended-release tablets, Xyzal® (levocetirizine dihydrochloride) Oral Solution, and lacosamide.

- UCB, Inc. focuses on severe diseases in the following areas: central nervous system, immunology and allergy/respiratory disorders.
- The U.S. affiliate employs approximately 2,000 employees nationwide with approximately 500 of them based in Atlanta.
