UCB Welcomes Second Class of Virtual Interns

Tomorrow is National Intern Day 2021, and we are pleased to continue our mission of investing in the next generation of the workforce by welcoming 32 student interns to our second virtual internship program.

Despite implications from the coronavirus pandemic, we are pleased to announce that we received 1,600+ applicants this year across all 32 positions, hiring interns from nine different states. Throughout their internship, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry and UCB by participating in various impactful projects cross-functionally throughout our company.

“One of my favorite parts about my internship with UCB is getting valuable hands-on experience and working cross-functionally with the marketing team, neurology team, etc. Everyone at UCB is helpful, understanding, and responsive.” – Aliyah Summerhill, Bone Health Communications Intern

This summer, interns will gain real-world experience in the biopharmaceutical industry while also forming long-lasting and meaningful connections. We are continuously working with one another to create a sense of togetherness and enable maximum productivity during this time of remote work. Working cross-functionally with various teams throughout UCB allows interns to maximize their growth and explore different learning interests. This year, UCB has implemented a weekly Virtual Coffee Hour for interns. This light-hearted addition brings interns together and allows them to get to know one another better despite work being virtual.

Software Medical Device Intern, Hannah Naba, shares, “The coffee hours are great way to connect with other interns. Networking, connecting, and working with people at UCB is awesome!” Interns are continuously collaborating with one another on various projects and networking with employers in order to form long-lasting connections during their time here.

UCB aims to foster a working environment where people are happy, healthy, safe and able to thrive. Communications intern, Nicholas Kimbrough, describes his time at UCB as, “full of welcoming individuals who have been there every step of the way to help me succeed.” We welcome our interns as they embark on their new journey with UCB, contributing to UCB’s culture and commitment to creating value for patients.

As we celebrate National Intern Day, we thank our 32 outstanding interns and welcome them to the UCB family. We are confident that each interns’ contributions will further enhance our mission to develop impactful solutions that patients value.
